The Deer Creek Schools Foundation's mission is to build strong community support and help advance excellence for Deer Creek Schools.
Deer Creek teachers and students are at the heart of our work! Your support means that each year Deer Creek teachers can request equipment, technology, and learning materials for their classrooms to enhance the academic environment. The results are amazing! Partner with us!
Deer Creek Schools per pupil funding is one of the lowest in the state but it is also one of the fastest growing districts with more than 8,000 students and 700 staff members. To that end, many of our teachers spend personal funds to equip their classrooms as state budgets just aren’t enough.
Why do Deer Creek Schools need more funding?
Oklahoma average funding across the state 2021-2022: $9,757 per student
Deer Creek funding received 2021-2022: $6,726 per student
This results in a $3,031 deficit in per student funding per year, equating to $24.25 Million in lost funding.
Through the Foundation, Deer Creek teachers request items they need to enhance learning in their classrooms--items beyond what state funds provide, such as technology, library books, art supplies, science microscopes, calculators, chemistry lab supplies, and support for the fine arts.
In 1980 a group of Deer Creek patrons felt there was a need for private financial support for the Deer Creek School District. This was partly in response to the lack of a significant commercial/industrial tax base within the school district. Although Deer Creek is a fast-growing school district, it is not a city with a large sales tax base. This resulted in the formation of the Deer Creek Schools Foundation and its endowment.
Since that time, the Foundation’s primary mission has been to fund special academic projects and classroom needs requests from Deer Creek teachers. Fundraising has always been the primary mission of the DCS Foundation.
This is accomplished primarily by Deer Creek patrons supporting the Foundation through contributions, event sponsorships, bequests and estate gifts, and scholarship donations. The Foundation is a 501c(3) nonprofit organization and donations are tax-deductible, as allowed by law.
Deer Creek graduates and alumni are an important part of our community. Our alumni provide support in many ways, including underwriting college scholarships for Deer Creek graduating seniors, sharing school traditions and participating in events, volunteering, and much more. We are proud of our alumni and all that they are accomplishing. If you are a Deer Creek alumni, we'd love to reconnect and hear from you.
